The futanashi is a kyusu-type of tea pot with a handle at what Westerners would probably regard as a “quirky angle”, but this allows you to pour the drink very elegantly towards yourself.
I have not seen a lot of futanashi yet, and indeed I have not used one myself (Here in Switzerland, we madly try to keep the heat in the pot and would use a lid), but in Japan you often see tea professionals use a kyusu without a lid. These users often do not measure the brewing time but they enjoy looking at the tea leaves inside the pot and judge the brewing length by how far the leaves have opened.
The futanashi provided by Obubu comes with a smooth glaze and a very fine mesh. Especially the latter is an otherwise often neglected essential detail.
